Masonry drill bits are used specifically for drilling through masonry products. These bits must be used in conjunction with a rotary hammer or drill with hammer drill function. The drill must be in hammer drill function to properly drill through concrete or masonry products. For most concrete anchors you need to drill a hole or pilot hole for the fastener. An example of a use case would be installing a TV mount to a concrete wall. Always be sure that you know what is behind the material that you are drilling through.
